Sweet romance blossoms between people from two very different worlds.

Will the bonds of love be stronger than the bonds of tradition?

Eager to make her own way in the world, Lacy Williams leaves behind her family on the Umatilla Reservation and accepts a job in Pendleton at the telephone office as an operator. The work she takes in stride, but dealing with the unfamiliar, unsettling feelings stirred by the handsome banker across the street is an entirely different matter.

Grant Hill wants a wife.

However, not just any wife will do. If that were the case, he’d make an announcement at the mercantile and cause a stampede to the church. Grant wants a woman who will look beyond his material wealth and see into his heart. When he's all but given up on the possibility that such a woman exists, he runs into the lovely Lacy Williams.

The two of them must strive to discover if the bonds of love are stronger than the bonds of tradition in this sweet historical western romance.

˃˃˃ Pendleton Petticoats Series

Set in the western town of Pendleton, Oregon, this series highlights courageous women and the men who love them.

The series begins in 1899, as Pendleton heads into a new century and an era as a booming, bustling city. During the early 1900s, Pendleton was considered a modern, progressive town, despite a wild west reputation. In addition to 18 bordellos and 32 saloons, Pendleton offered residents such cultured experiences as an opera house, a French restaurant, and a tea room. It was the second city in Oregon to have paved streets and boasted a telephone office as well as wonders like indoor plumbing to those who could afford the services.

Servicing a huge region in Eastern Oregon, it was an entertainment hub, shipping center, and so much more, especially with the millions of bushels of wheat and pounds of wool produced in the area.

While the town didn't lack for colorful characters, those portrayed in the Pendleton Petticoats series are purely fictional.

Coming from a variety of backgrounds, the series showcases women from all walks of life who find their courage and persevere in chasing their dreams.

The series, in order, includes

Aundy (Book 1) - One stubborn mail-order bride finds the courage to carry on when she's widowed before ever truly becoming a wife, but opening her heart to love again may be more than she can bear.

Caterina (Book 2) - Running from a man intent on marrying her, Caterina starts a new life in Pendleton, completely unprepared for the passionate feelings stirred by the town's deputy sheriff.

Ilsa (Book 3) - Relying on others to guide and protect her, Ilsa finally finds the strength and courage to take control of her life. Unfortunately, her independence drives a wedge between her and the man she's come to love.

Marnie (Book 4) - Giving up on her dreams for a future, Marnie finds her hope rekindled by one caring, compassionate man and the orphans who need her.

Lacy (Book 5) - Bound by the past, Lacy dreams of a future full of excitement, adventure, and the love of a good man.

Bertie (Book 6) - Riley Walsh only wanted to escape the pain of his past. He never planned on meeting the girl who would heal his heart.

Millie (Book 7) - Determined to bring prohibition to town, the last thing Millie Matlock expects is to fall for the charming owner of the Second Chance Saloon.

Dally (Book 8) - Eager to return home and begin his career, Doctor Nik Nash is taken by surprise when spirited Dally Douglas captures his heart.

Another fabulous u s book from Shanna Hatfield.Book 5 in this series I s as good a s all the other's and I have not Bern able to put it down at all. These characters from the other books are like old friends and it is so easy to read and become engrossed in the lives of all the people in Pendelton once again. This story is about Grant Hill the town banker who lost out on the previous women in he series..All he wants is someone to love him for him and not his money or standing in the community. Then along comes Lacy when she leaves the Reservation to work in Pendelton at t he phone company. As their love blooms thing happen to try and stop their growing live for each other.A must read if you live historical romance.
Another wonderful book by one of my favorite authors. I love Grant from the other books and knew he would make a great hero of his very own. Good looking, sensitive, caring and helpful to friends and the community, he wishes he could find the woman who would look past his money and love him for the man he is. Lacy, is a perfect match for him. Lovely and very determined to find her own way in life is just so sweet and adorable, you just can't help root for her and a HEA. I love all the characters in Pendleton and It's so nice to catch up with each one from the past books. After all, each of them have captured a piece of my heart and I enjoy reading about their lives. Looking forward to the next one in this series and who might star in his or her own story. This is what I call a clean read but with a lot of romance. JudyE
I can hear John Denver singing in my ear, "gee, it's good to be back home again," because that's how I feel whenever I read one of Shanna Hatfield's Pendleton Petticoat Series books. It's like going to a family reunion and staying awhile to catch up on all the gossip, the births, the deaths, and of course, who's marrying who?
This is truly a story of East meeting West and love reining in and embracing the differences between two cultures. This book touches on something so much deeper than the story itself. It certainly gave me many things to ponder as I read it. Shanna is also spot on with her timing of events included in the story because she constantly researches everything before she writes. And, as always, she's included a recipe at the end of the book plus loads of great links for interesting information for further reading.
See y'all at the next reunion when we meet Bertie....I'll bring the potato salad!!
Grab a cup of coffee or tea and your favorite blanket and enjoy another love story by Shanna Hatfield.
If you like historical romance novels you will enjoy reading Lacy by Shanna Hatfield. I have never been disappointed with any of her novels. Each time she publishes a new novel I continued to be amazed that she creates and captures my interest from the very beginning. She weaves stories that keeps you coming back to find what happens to the new characters that you are introduced to in each novel. And as you read about Lacy and Grant you also get to stay in touch with all the other characters that you have meant through her other Pendleton series novels. (Each novel can be read as stand alone story so don't worry if this is your first Shanna Hatfield novel. I am sure, if this is your first novel by Shanna that before long you will be an avid of fan of her writing style).
I always set aside time to read any one of Shanna Hatfield's novels as I want to read the entire story without interruptions. Not that ever happens but I try and make sure I have several hours at a time to enjoy her story's. I find it hard to put down her novels and end up loosing sleep. (that to me is evidence of a great story teller, when you can't put the book down).
So Shanna, THANK YOU again for a wonderful historical romance novel. So glad that Grant finally "gets the girl" LOL......
Looking forward to Bertie's story and eventually Nik's when he comes to Pendleton as Dr Nik!!!!
